Christmas Blog Gems: Mummy from the Heart

blog gems

Mummy from the Heart is the fourth baby of Michelle, a 40-year-old (manic) mother living in East Sussex. Having recently moved to the countryside and ‘retired’, Michelle can now be found eating too much cake and taking long walks. She lives life on the bright side and looks for the joy in every situation, even the excess pounds those cakes keep adding! Michelle’s blog is a very honest place where she shares tales of imperfect parenting, being a Christian and anything else that takes her fancy.

Many thanks to Donna for opening her blog up and letting me share five of my favourite posts from 2013 with you. I’ll start on a light note with a post I wrote in January about being a ‘normal’ mummy blogger. It is so easy to get all wound-up in your statistics and to compare yourself to others but I urge you to be authentic and real.

At the end of March our family found out that we would be moving to the countryside and that our everyday would change beyond recognition. I’ll always look fondly on this next post, I can really read the excitement in my voice as I share about our move. I then started to ponder about this big move and found myself asking ‘do I really want the simple life, is it all it is cracked up to be?’. I think six months later I can safely say that yes, simple really does suit me.

In 2012 I was privileged to travel to Ethiopia with the One Campaign and Belarus with Operation Christmas Child. I of course wrote extensively about my travels on my blog but then this year I realised it was important to share some of the knowledge I had gained so this next post takes you through my top tips for successful blogger/charity partnerships.

I’ll leave you with a parenting post, I am supposed to write a mummy blog after all! In the summer I was left wondering if I was prissy or a prude? I find the way some young girls dress so inappropriate and getting the right balance can be difficult.
