Well, Mummy Central’s little break and redesign means I’m playing catch up.
One Project 52 was lost when the blog got attacked by a nasty malware bug.
And believe it or not I’ve missed THREE more. Then there’s my picture for this week.
So forgive me for hitting you with so many images.
But a lot has happened since we last spoke.

Brodie and Blake love coming out of the local leisure centre and playing in the ”magical forest” – which in reality is a bit of shrubbery outside the building, before you get to the car park. I love that their imaginations can transform the smallest area of greenery into a place of wonder and adventure.

I spent a good few weeks worrying about doing Blake’s birthday cake – since he wanted a knight’s castle. I’m not a domestic goddess. But in the end, it looked OK (a little basic, but good enough for a four-year-old). To find out how I did it, check out my guest post on Tots100. But I’m warning you, it looked a lot better than it tasted!

While his party was over the weekend, my youngest boy turned 4 on a Monday.
Blakey Blakester (as we call him) mostly got knights and castles for his birthday.
We bought him a Le Toy Van castle, while his grandma also got him a castle playset. On our advice, other friends and family members got him knights playing figures, books about knights, a Mike The Knight sword and dinner set and many more.
Happy Birthday Sir Blake of West Lothian – now pick up all that mess for your mum!

We had a half-term visit to Edinburgh Zoo, an attraction right on our doorstep yet we hadn’t been there for almost 2 years. The boys got in touch with their animal instincts when the talented facepainter transformed Brodie into a monkey, and Blake a tiger. We were mostly excited about seeing the giant pandas, who joined the zoo last December to much publicity and fanfare. As it happened, only the female Tian Tian was available to view – and she wasn’t much impressed by her visitors.

Brodie gets his ghoul on at an early Halloween party, then goes to his mate’s superhero birthday party as Brodie Wan Kenobi (see what we did there?!)

I love the cake!
Thanks. The boys loved the look of it – unfortunately the taste didn’t quite live up to expectations. It ended up in the bin (not joking when I say I’m no domestic goddess)
Wow your cake is amazing! How clever are you? And the boys face painting looks fab and I adore those superhero costumes x
They’re getting to a great age where they’re into dressing up and having fun. Until recently, Blake didn’t enjoy having his face painted.
Wow to the cake, I would have to show that one off too! Glad to hear all your malware problems are in the past, I did feel for you with that one. Loving the piece with the little bit of shrub, it really doesn’t take much to capture kids imagination and it is a lovely photo too. Edinburgh Zoo sounds like a special day, mine keep talking about visiting a zoo, despite Nick’s increasingly exotic farm animals apparently Coombe Mill still doesn’t count! Thank you for linking up with Country Kids.
Hahaha. Kids are never happy with what they’ve got, are they? Suppose they think of all your animals as their pets. Don’t realise how lucky they are. Edinburgh Zoo’s great – but £50 for a family of four and you’re not guaranteed the animals will be out, cos of the constant poor weather. Believe me, you’re better off where you are!
wow that cake is awesome, did you make it yourself? x
Pfft! Well can’t imagine anyone paying for it. But thank you for being so kind x
I love your cake also
x
You’re too kind – especially since I know you can do MUCH better x
Such lovely photos, I love the cake, that puts you in the domestic goddess category to me as I can cook but could never do anything like that!!
Oh believe me, you could
Fab pics! That cake is VERY impressive, well done lady
When my eldest was 4 I made him a dinosaur cake that looked like a collapsed lizard! This was much easier
