It’s not often we have something in common with Supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
You’ll be surprised to know we don’t go to the same parties, we don’t hang out in the same beauty salons and we don’t eat (does she eat?) at the same restaurants.
We know. You’re shocked, right?
But we recently discovered our kids wear the same designer label.
Since the kind folks at MASH Junior – an Italian childrenswear company – sent us some clothing to review, we’ve spotted this brand in magazines and on websites, favoured by the glitterati of Hollywood.
Not just Brazilian beauty Gisele, but gorgeous actress Naomi Watts.
Giselle’s son Benjamin was recently papped wearing a navy blue MASH Junior puffer jacket on a trip to the park with his dad, NFL star Tom Brady.
Just a few weeks later, Sasha Schreiber was seen in the same popular winter jacket on a day out with his famous parents, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber.
Brodie and Milly were both sent outfits last month to try out – and after a thorough road test, here’s how we got on:
Elizabeth’s verdict:
As daughters ourselves we all know that mums and their girls rarely agree on what to wear.
Little did I realise Milly and I would begin to quibble about fashion good buys and good byes before she was a teen.
She’s five for gawd’s sake!
So it was with interest that I showed Milly the dark blue narrow leg stretch jeans and a vibrant red shrug sent to us by MASH.
I was already impressed with the quality of the fabric and the cleanness of the stitching in the jeans and excited about the versatility of the shrug.
With its little ribbon on the right shoulder and two ties at the neck and base, it’s a perfect accessory to throw on your little one after dragging her from tree climbing to meet your great aunt.
And guess what? She loved them.
For her, they were “cool”, “so cute” and “really comfy”.
Success.
Donna’s verdict:
As a boy who’s most comfortable in tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt, there’s not much drama in our house about what Brodie wears.
Except when it’s time to dress up for a fancy occasion.
Then he wriggles, complains and generally makes a fuss.
What can I say? He’s a comfort boy.
So when his first-ever school disco was approaching, I wondered if it was worth going.
The offer of MASH Junior clothing came at just the right time.
The off-white shirt with the MASH logo was soft but very trendy, and for once Brodie didn’t complain about a shirt being “scratchy”.
The jeans were long and skinny. As he’s tall for his age, I’d got the size 8, which needed turning up a little, but he still looked great.
Brodie couldn’t stop admiring himself in the mirror – and even asked me to gel his hair into spikes.
He left for his disco with a bit of a swagger.
Result.
Pros:
Comfortable, good quality clothing
Great for smart occasions
Not too pricey, when compared with other designer labels
Cons:
Too good to wear for climbing trees (but is that really a bad thing?!)
Also worth knowing:
MASH Jr will be launching in the UK in Spring/Summer 2012, but at present the best way to get your hands on the clothing is via www.yoox.com, which ships internationally.
To give you an idea on prices, a T-shirt from the baby range (0-24 months) is £18. A skirt for girls (age 3-9) is £36. And from the teenage range (10-16), the jeans retail at £71.
